My Story
I am a photographer born and bred from the west coast of Ireland on the Island of Achill, I picked up photography back in 2011 and have been doing it ever since. There's a story behind how it all started I am going to share.
Back in 2011 I met this woman from Dublin in the local pub of the valley house one weekend, we started to talk about photography and I mentioned my interest in it to her, my plan was to save up for a proper DSLR camera by the end of the summer I explained to her. So she mentioned that she had a DSLR camera that she barely used at all and offered to give it to me but I insisted on giving her some money but she didn't think it was necessary.
A few weeks had passed, by then it was June bank holiday weekend and at the time I was working in the local supermarket on the Island for that year. On Friday I was busy at work and she came up to say hello to me and we chatted for a short while. When she finished talking to me she handed me a box with a card on top. At that moment in time I didn't know what was going on and before I could ask her what was in the box she was gone! So in a state of shock I went down to a quiet place in the store room, I opened the card first and started reading it.
"Over 20 years ago when I was living in Los Angeles a stranger and I had a chat in a pub and he offered to help me. I was very suspicious but something told me to trust him. He gave me a very generous gift to help me out of a bad place and the only thing he wanted in return was that I might do something similar for someone else someday.
This is quite not the same situation but it feels really good to pass this camera on to someone who might use and appreciate it until you can afford your own. If you don't want it you too can pass it on but if you do like it and use it someday when you can do something similar for someone, I hope you get hours of fun from it. Cheers. Anne"
